Guide Dog Training Center Selection and Preparation

When you are selecting a guide dog training center, it’s crucial to understand that this is a long-term commitment. You’ll be working with the dog for at least 10 years. While you may have the opportunity to receive supplemental assistance to care for the dog, you will remain solely responsible.

To be eligible to apply for a guide dog at any International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF) center, you must have completed O&M training, be legally blind, and be able to travel independently.

You can begin researching the training centers when you feel you meet the eligibility.
